Choosing ProjectSight​

Initially, the company was attracted to ProjectSight because it provided a collaborative solution, involving the external stakeholders, while keeping hold of the functionality that Trimble had mastered years ago, in Prolog, for managing complex budgets and change management. “When you run a report, it’s telling you the truth,” says David Hansmann, Director of Project Controls. “It’s not a report missing information from an email that hasn’t been logged yet — it’s reality.”

For example, a subcontractor can drop into the system and enter pricing information. Although it’s not approved yet, it’s acknowledged and noted. Creating such a closed loop system for communication between stakeholders enhances communication and increases accountability for all those involved in a project.

The Future of Construction

Looking to the Future

For now, Manhattan Construction Company continues to use a blend of different software solutions for various elements of their projects, but eventually they want to simplify under fewer solutions. “We see ProjectSight as very close to getting the functionalities completed in a way that we can run with—and that’s the reason we came on board,” says David Hansmann, Director of Project Controls.

Ultimately, ProjectSight is helping the company’s project teams minimize their stress and additional work around managing access control. “Having the access control that ProjectSight offers is essential,” says David Hansmann, Director of Project Controls. “The ability to login and see how the same record will be viewed from three different sets of eyes, depending on each one’s project role, is very reassuring.
